Rita Ora opens up about freezing her eggs in her 20s and why she did it
Rita Ora explains her decision to freeze eggs in her 20s and shares insights into the fertility-preservation process and timing.
Rita Ora has revealed why she chose to freeze her eggs when she was in her 20s, sharing that she had two rounds of egg freezing at 24 and 27. She says a doctor advised that it was a good time to preserve the best-quality eggs, a move she now views as a potential option for her future family planning.
“Back then, a doctor told me it was a really good time to preserve the best-quality (eggs),” she said. Now in her mid-30s, Ora notes that many friends are navigating fertility decisions and that early preservation can expand future options.
Medical experts describe the typical egg-freezing process in detail. A fertility specialist explains that the first visit includes a medical history to identify any contraindications, followed by an assessment of the ovarian reserve to guide ovarian stimulation. Patients then receive injections under the skin to stimulate the ovaries for about 10 to 12 days, with response monitored through three to four scans. When the follicles reach the desired size, a trigger shot is given, and egg retrieval is performed roughly 36 to 38 hours later.
The procedure, the doctor notes, aims to collect mature eggs for cryogenic storage, enabling future use when desired. Ora’s openness brings attention to fertility planning and the practical steps involved in preserving options for the future.
