WhatsApp Rolls Out Sleek ‘Liquid Glass’ Redesign for iPhone Users
WhatsApp tests a Liquid Glass-inspired redesign on iPhone, echoing iOS 18 with subtle transparency, live photo support, and on-device translation—now rolling to a limited beta.
Based on Apple's Liquid Glass interface, WhatsApp is progressively introducing a new design for iOS users, giving the well-known messaging app a more contemporary and fluid aesthetic. Several users have reported seeing the updated design in the most recent WhatsApp release, despite Meta not having made an official announcement.

The app now has a refined and more cohesive appearance with iOS 18's overall design language, thanks to the addition of subtle transparency effects, which are especially apparent in the tab bar. The latest update improves the user experience even more by adding support for Live Photos and on-device text message translation in addition to the aesthetic update.

This rollout seems to be a part of a limited test phase before a broader public release, according to WABetaInfo. According to reports, Meta started experimenting with Liquid Glass in beta builds last month. The design is now live for some users on the stable version.

Because of WhatsApp's enormous user base, significant interface changes are usually implemented gradually to guarantee stability and gather feedback. Because of this, not every iPhone user will notice the new design right away. Additionally, according to the company's release notes, it may take a few weeks for new features to be available to all users worldwide.
The action is in line with Meta's overarching plan to maintain responsive and fluid performance while harmonizing WhatsApp's design language with iOS' changing aesthetic. The Liquid Glass redesign will be one of WhatsApp's most significant visual updates in years when it is fully implemented.
