AD to Lead: Shobhinaw Satyaa's Divine Journey in "Hanuman Ansh"! 🚀

“Hanuman Ansh,” the devotional drama directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, has taken the Indian box office by storm, racking in over ₹100 crore domestically. What makes this feat even more remarkable is that the film, made on a modest budget of roughly ₹2 crore, has become one of the most profitable Indian films of all time, multiplying its investment by over 50 times!

Initially opening on a mere 25 screens last month, “Hanuman Ansh” has shown incredible staying power, growing into a major phenomenon that continues its successful run even in its fifth weekend.

But the film's journey to success is not just about its box office numbers; it's also about the fascinating tale of its lead actor, Shobhinaw Satyaa. Believe it or not, Satyaa wasn't originally cast as Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Maharaj ji. His entry into the project was initially as the second assistant director (AD).

He even joined the team late, two days after pre-production kicked off, which initially drew the ire of director Vishal Chaturvedi.

However, destiny had other plans. Chaturvedi recounted to The Lallantop,

When I saw him for the first time in my office, I went to scold him for joining two days late. But then I thought he looks like Maharaj ji, so it must be a blessing for us.

This uncanny resemblance to the revered spiritual guru wasn't just noticed by the director.

His costume designer, in a 2:30 AM message, expressed being “psyched” by how much Shobhinaw looked like Maharaj ji. While Chaturvedi initially hesitated to replace the original actor based purely on looks, the resemblance was undeniable.

It wasn't just Shobhinaw's physical similarity that caught the team's attention.

His demeanor mirrored the spiritual guru's calm and positive essence. Vishal noted, “Sobhinaw was very well-behaved.

Everyone else in my team looked worried, but he always had a smile. He was always positive and focused towards the film.” Adding to his suitability, Shobhinaw had also memorized the entire script from his time as an AD during the 15-day rehearsal period before shooting began. This combination of an uncanny resemblance and a fitting temperament sealed his fate, transforming an assistant director into the lead star of a massive blockbuster.

This extraordinary turn of events has added another layer of intrigue and inspiration to the already phenomenal success story of “Hanuman Ansh.”
