Former ISRO Chief Urges Students to Harness Emerging Tech for India's Future

At the National Science Day celebrations organized by the School of Advanced Sciences at VIT-AP University, former ISRO chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar urged students to seize the power of emerging technologies and sharpen their skills to become India’s future leaders. He said embracing science and innovation is key to helping the country realise the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, and he encouraged students to dedicate themselves to science so India can shine globally through talent and perseverance.

Emeritus Professor Prasanta K. Panigrahi from IISER Kolkata noted that National Science Day is a moment to question, experiment, and explore ideas that can solve real-world problems and strengthen the nation’s future. Rao Tatavarti, a former DRDO scientist, stressed the need for curiosity and scientific temper among youths, while AI governance expert Rajkumar Elagiri Ramalingam highlighted the importance of coupling technological know-how with ethical responsibility to drive sustainable growth.

VIT-AP University Vice Chancellor P. Arulmozhivarman added that students at the university are encouraged to turn questions into impactful solutions for society. The event drew participation from 30 schools in Guntur and Vijayawada, with prizes awarded to winners across various competitions, underscoring a broad interest in science, technology, and innovation among young minds.
