Two people were killed and several were wounded after Ukrainian drone attacks hit Russia's border regions, including Rostov-on-Don. In Rostov-on-Don, the drone strike sparked a fire in a residential building, and the body of a man was found in the charred remains of one of the apartments. Four other people, including a four-year-old, were wounded in strikes elsewhere in the Rostov region, sparking fires in several industrial areas.
In Belgorod region, a woman was killed and a man wounded when a Ukrainian drone struck a vehicle, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on Telegram. Russia has faced nightly drone and missile strikes, with Kyiv saying its drones target energy infrastructure to limit the Kremlin's war effort.
Ukraine says it hit a Russian drone factory in the Rostov region, saying the destruction will reduce the enemy's capacity to produce drones and weaken its ability to strike civilian targets on Ukrainian territory.
Russia continues its broader campaign, launching a major strike on Ukraine's power grid in freezing temperatures. Zelenskyy said Ukraine had fired dozens of drones at Russia overnight, with reports of almost 300 drones, 18 ballistic missiles and seven cruise missiles hitting eight regions.
