Morgan Geyser Recaptured After Escaping Group Home
Morgan Geyser, Slender Man attacker, recaptured after cutting off her ankle monitor and fleeing a Wisconsin group home; authorities found her sleeping on a Posen sidewalk.
Morgan Geyser, now 22, is the former teenage attacker behind the infamous Slender Man stabbing case. She was recaptured after cutting off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and fleeing a Wisconsin group home on Saturday, Nov. 22. She allegedly traveled with an unknown male to Posen, Illinois, by bus from Wisconsin.
Posen police located them sleeping on a sidewalk near a truck stop around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23. Geyser repeatedly refused to provide her real name and initially gave a false one. After officers pressed for identification, she explained that she didn’t want to tell them who she was because she had “done something really bad,” and she urged officers to “just Google” her name.
Geyser had been living in a group home under a court order as a condition of release from a psychiatric care facility, following the 2014 stabbing in which she and a classmate attacked a peer. The return to custody marks a new chapter in a case that has drawn continued public and media attention over the years.
Authorities did not release additional details about a potential motive or the status of the group-home placement at this time, but the incident underscores ongoing concerns about monitoring and support for individuals involved in high-profile youth crime cases.
