Palaniswami: DMK Govt Is Anti-Farmer, Burdening Voters
Palaniswami accuses DMK of anti-farmer policies, hikes in prices and taxes as Tamil Nadu election campaigns heat up.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami slammed the DMK government, describing it as anti-farmer as he campaigned in Pudukottai for party candidates and for the BJP in the district. He said the Cauvery-Vaigai-Gundar interlinking project, started to boost farming across Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram, was halted after the DMK came to power. The project, he argued, was intended to raise the water table and benefit farmers in these districts, but the present government stopped it.
On the economy, Palaniswami accused the DMK government of sharp hikes in the prices of rice and other essentials, along with steep increases in property tax and electricity tariffs that hurt ordinary people. He mocked the Chief Minister for being more focused on “photo shoots” than addressing hardships faced by common voters.
He also charged that corruption runs rampant in all government departments under the DMK rule and vowed that if AIADMK returns to power, action would be taken. Palaniswami asserted that the DMK government had accumulated about ₹5 lakh crore in loans and left the people as debtors, with little to show in terms of achievements.
Campaigning in Pudukottai for AIADMK candidates in Viralimalai, Alangudi, and Thirumayam, as well as for BJP nominees in the district, Palaniswami pressed the message that only the AIADMK can restore stability and relief for farmers, and that the DMK’s tenure has burdened the public with higher prices and debt. He urged voters to judge the government by the hardships faced rather than by rhetoric, signaling a clear call for a comeback by his party.
