He argued that higher fuel costs add to the burden on households and could undermine living standards.\n\nAnalysts warn wholesale inflation could translate into higher consumer prices, even as retail inflation remains soft for now. Crisil and other agencies have cautioned that a widening gap between wholesale and consumer prices can push up the cost of everyday goods in coming months.
