Shocking Arrest: Deputy PM's Kin Linked to Gangrape of Foreigners

A high-profile case has rocked Pakistan, with a relative of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar among four suspects arrested in connection with the alleged gangrape of two foreign nationals in Lahore. Muhammad Raza Dar, identified as the prime suspect, along with Hassan Raza, Sikandar Khan, and Sajid Ali, were remanded into police custody for five days by a Lahore court on Friday, July 4, 2026.

The incident involves two women, one from the Netherlands and the other from Venezuela, who were reportedly abducted and assaulted by five men in Lahore on June 29. Police rescued the women after receiving a crucial call from Spain, placed by the father of one of the victims. A case was registered under sections 365A (kidnapping) and 375A (gang rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Authorities are currently searching for the fifth accused who remains at large.

Investigations reveal that the foreign nationals first met Raza Dar in Singapore in October 2025, where they were reportedly involved in a cryptocurrency venture. Raza Dar subsequently arranged business visas for their visit to Pakistan. Upon their arrival in Lahore on June 29, the women allege that Raza Dar and the other suspects abducted them, took them to a house, subjected them to gangrape, and demanded ransom for their release.

The sensitivity of the matter is heightened due to the involvement of a close relative of a senior politician. A police officer confirmed that the investigation is being conducted thoroughly and from all angles. During a court appearance, the victims identified Muhammad Raza Dar as the "prime suspect" among the four accused presented before a magistrate. The case continues to unfold as police pursue the absconding suspect and delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding this grave incident.
