Kerala final voters list: 2.69 crore in SIR roll ahead of polls
Kerala's final electoral roll reaches 2.69 crore after Special Intensive Revision, with key demographics and a drop vs. the local body list stirring political discussion.
Kerala has a little over 2.69 crore voters according to the final electoral roll prepared by the Election Commission of India after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The final roll will be formally published on Saturday, February 21, 2026, as per the schedule announced by the ECI, Kerala Chief Electoral Officer Rathan U. Kelkar said in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.
Of the 2,69,53,644 voters, 1,38,27,319 are women, 1,31,26,048 are men and 277 are transgender voters. Overseas electors number 2,23,558 and there are 54,110 service voters. New voters aged 18-19 total 4,24,518. In the 85-plus age group there are 2,04,608 voters, and the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category accounts for 2,43,698.
Interestingly, the ECI list will have a little over 16.54 lakh voters less than the voters’ list used in Kerala for the local body elections held in December 2025. The local body elections had 2,86,07,658 voters, while the ECI final roll stands at 2,78,50,855 voters in October 2025 after the summary revision. The ECI roll had 2,78,50,855 voters in October. The SIR draft roll published on December 23, 2025 had 2,54,42,352 voters in all.
At a meeting of political parties, CPI(M) representative M.V. Jayarajan said, “it was evident from these figures that eligible voters had been excluded from the ECI list.” The final publication on February 21 is expected to shape party strategies as Kerala moves toward Assembly elections.
