₹15 Cr for MPs? Shiv Sena (UBT) Alleges 'Operation Tiger' Amid Defection Buzz!

A political storm is brewing in Maharashtra as Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut dropped a bombshell allegation this week, claiming that attempts are being made to "buy each MP for ₹15 crore." Raut's cryptic post on X, tagging Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, stated, "Apna Sapna money money (The dream is only money), the information that Maharashtra MPs will receive an advance of ₹15 crore tonight is extremely shocking and disgusting." This explosive claim comes amidst intense speculation that several Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs are planning to switch allegiance to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

The rumors, dubbed "Operation Tiger" in political circles, suggest that between seven to nine Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs might be on the verge of defection. The speculation gained momentum following a recent meeting held by Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at Matoshree in Mumbai, where initially, only four MPs were reported to be present. However, party leaders, including Raut, later dismissed the defection rumors, asserting that all MPs remain loyal and would be present at the undivided Shiv Sena's 60th foundation day on June 19.

Adding fuel to the fire, the Shinde camp appears to be validating the defection buzz. Shiv Sena MLC Krupal Tumane reportedly stated that the process is in its "final stage," claiming, "Seven MPs and 16 MLAs want to be with the Shiv Sena, and they are in touch with us. Before the Monsoon Session, all will be done." Furthermore, Shiv Sena Minister Pratap Sarnaik openly welcomed potential defectors, saying, “Shiv Sena’s doors are open 24X7 and 365 days, anyone can join us.”

The drama escalated further with reports of a late-night meeting in Delhi, where Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met with several MPs from Uddhav Thackeray's camp. This meeting further intensified fears within the Shiv Sena (UBT) of an imminent split. In a defensive move, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant has written to the Lok Sabha Speaker, urging him not to recognize any breakaway group or merger, citing parliamentary rules and the ongoing Supreme Court cases related to the Shiv Sena split. With Uddhav Thackeray also scheduled to hold a meeting with MLAs and MLCs on June 22, just as the Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature kicks off, the political landscape remains highly volatile and uncertain.
