Annamayya District gears up as cyclone Montha triggers orange alert

Annamayya District Collector Nishant Kumar on Saturday (October 25, 2025) directed all departments to stay vigilant for the next three days as heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast under cyclone Montha’s orange alert.

At an emergency meeting with Revenue, Police, Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj, Irrigation, and Roads and Buildings officials, Sub-Collectors Bhavana (Rajampet) and Challa Kalyani (Madanapalle) were present. He said field officers were placed on high alert, and officials should identify vulnerable buildings and flood-prone areas, stock sandbags, monitor water levels in reservoirs, and alert residents via public address systems.

Farmers are advised to safeguard harvested crops and livestock; health officials should stock medicines and be prepared to run emergency medical camps, with special focus on pregnant women in flood-prone areas. A control room is to be set up by Sunday morning (October 26). Police are to post warning boards near overflowing canals, bridges, and culverts and promptly report emergencies to the control rooms.
