India Pushes for Peace! Jaishankar Engages Kyiv & Moscow on Ukraine War

India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to help bring an end to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Speaking from Warsaw on Friday, September 4, 2026, after meeting with Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, Jaishankar reiterated India's commitment to finding a peaceful resolution.

His visit to Warsaw came directly after discussions with top Ukrainian leadership in Kyiv just a day earlier. During his engagements, Minister Jaishankar emphasized that India remains in continuous contact with both Ukrainian and Russian authorities. He stated that India is exploring various ideas and suggestions that could contribute to either mitigating or, ideally, completely ceasing the conflict.

This diplomatic push aligns with India's consistent stance that "this certainly must not be a time of war.

Peace is needed," as quoted by Jaishankar. In Kyiv, Jaishankar met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his counterpart Andrii Sybiha.

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for India's dedication to ending what he termed "this unjust war" and hoped that other major world powers would also adopt a clear stance towards achieving a reliable peace. Jaishankar had previously conveyed India's readiness to extend "any help in any manner" to resolve the conflict.

Beyond the immediate conflict, Jaishankar and his Polish counterpart also discussed broader global challenges.

These included critical issues such as supply chain resilience, as well as food, fuel, and fertiliser security, underscoring the far-reaching impacts of current geopolitical tensions. India's active participation highlights its role on the global stage, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy in times of complex international crises.
