Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh on Friday confirmed the 23 new COVID-19 cases in the city. Infected individuals' status, whether they are residents or have a travel history in recent days, is being cross-checked by the authorities. The Delhi government has issued a precautionary advisory to all healthcare institutions in response to an apparent rise in COVID-19 cases in various parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). Hospitals are urged by the advisory to improve their readiness for a potential spike in infections.
Among the important steps mentioned are making sure that hospital beds, oxygen supplies, necessary medications, and vaccines are available. Furthermore, all hospitals have been instructed by the health department to send samples that test positive for COVID-19 to Lok Nayak Hospital for genome sequencing. For the early identification of any novel or developing virus variations, this step is essential. The significance of being alert and ready to handle the changing circumstances has been emphasized by the government.
The warning is issued in response to new COVID-19 cases reported in nearby areas, which raises concerns about localized outbreaks. Four people in the city of Ghaziabad have tested positive for the virus. Three patients are currently in home isolation, while one has been admitted to the hospital. The situation is being closely watched by health officials.
In the meantime, the districts of Faridabad and Gurugram in Haryana have confirmed at least three COVID-19 cases. Officials say that two patients in Gurugram, a 62-year-old man with no travel history and a 31-year-old woman who recently traveled from Mumbai, have tested positive and are being kept in home isolation. Family members are being advised to stay apart as a precaution by the Gurugram health department, which is tracking down their contacts.
A 28-year-old security guard from Sehtpur in the Palla neighborhood of Faridabad was discovered to be infected. He went to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for treatment after developing a cold, cough, and fever. His COVID-19 infection was confirmed by his test results. To identify the variant at play, authorities have asked the hospital to submit samples of his throat swabs for genome sequencing. The patient and his family are doing well right now, according to Dr. Rambhagat of the district health department in Faridabad.
Both of the Gurugram patients are under close observation and have been told to avoid their relatives, according to Dr. JP Rajliwal of the health department in Gurugram. The Union Health Ministry is still on high alert at the national level.
