Two arrested in Delhi over pro-Khalistan slogans; plot traced to Canada

Two men — Baljinder, an ambulance driver, and his associate Rohit alias Kirat — were arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with pro-Khalistan slogans found at two locations in Delhi ahead of Republic Day. The investigators described the incident as a targeted operation rather than a random act, saying the planning originated overseas, with the mastermind hatching the scheme in Canada and offering money to carry it out.
Officials said the Delhi plot involved a mastermind from Tilak Nagar who was in direct contact with Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the founder of Sikhs for Justice. Pannun allegedly offered ₹2 lakh to execute the act and is said to have recruited the workers through a close associate. An FIR was registered under sections 196 (promoting enmity), 197 (imputations prejudicial to national integration), 152 (acts endangering sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India), and 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
Pannun had released a video claiming his sleeper cells had put up pro-Khalistan posters in Rohini and Dabri, but officials, after verification, found no such posters at those sites. The case underscores ongoing concerns about public order around Republic Day and the reach of international actors alleged to influence domestic politics.
Investigations continue as authorities examine digital trails and financial records; more arrests could follow if links are established. Security agencies say they will act firmly against any attempt to disrupt public order.
