Essex Dog Attack: 19-year-old Jamie-Lea Biscoe Dies in Leaden Roding

A 19-year-old woman has died following a dog attack at a house in Leaden Roding, near Dunmow, Essex. Police were called to Long Hide at about 22:45 BST on Friday and found a woman with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem is due to take place on Sunday as investigators seek to understand exactly what happened. A man, 37, from Dunmow, was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death; he has since been released on bail. The dog, described by officers as a family pet, was seized for checks, with police saying it is believed to be a Lurcher cross.

The village, a small cul-de-sac with a few other homes, has seen a thoughtful response from residents and local church leaders. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper said the force is continuing its inquiries and asked anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or other information to come forward, noting incident 1419 of 10 April. The church in the village said it would join in prayer and lighting candles on Sunday afternoon as the community comes to terms with the tragedy.
