Truck on wrong side kills 5, injures 8 on Odisha overbridge; driver held
A speeding truck traveling the wrong way rammed three motorcycles on Gosain Nuagaon overbridge in Ganjam, Odisha, killing five and injuring eight. The driver was arrested and ex gratia relief announced.
Bhubaneswar: Five people were killed and eight others injured after a speeding truck traveling in the wrong direction rammed into three motorcycles on the Gosain Nuagaon overbridge in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday afternoon. The truck hit three motorcycles heading toward Haladiapadar. The injured were taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Preliminary investigation indicated that the truck was being driven on the wrong side, with the driver fleeing the scene but later arrested. A medical examination of the driver will be conducted soon. Fire service personnel and police teams reached the spot and cleared the damaged vehicles to restore traffic movement on the overbridge.
