UK to Repatriate Britons as Oman Evacuation Flights Intensify
Britons stranded in the Middle East set for evacuation as the UK plans a repatriation flight from Oman, with the first charter leaving Muscat this week.
The UK government has announced it will charter a repatriation flight from Oman in the coming days, as Britons in the Middle East seek a safe return amid regional tensions following Iran strikes. The first chartered flight is scheduled to depart Muscat International Airport on Wednesday evening, with airlines stepping up capacity to support the operation and officials keeping a close eye on security conditions.
Priority for the evacuation will be given to the most vulnerable, including families with dependents and travelers with medical needs, with consular staff and dedicated teams guiding passengers through the process. Travelers may need to arrange travel documents, and authorities are coordinating ground transport to and from Muscat where possible to facilitate a smooth departure.
The move underlines the government’s ongoing commitment to protecting its citizens abroad and to coordinating with regional partners to ensure orderly repatriations. While the situation in the region remains fluid, the current plan aims for a swift, controlled return for those affected, with further flights considered if circumstances allow.
This initial Oman flight marks a milestone in Britain’s crisis response, and guidance desks, hotlines, and online registration channels are expected to help evacuees navigate the process. Officials emphasise that operations will adapt to evolving security assessments and logistical realities, prioritising safety and clear communication with those seeking to come home.
Ministers indicated readiness to mobilise additional flights if needed, but for now the focus is on getting Britons home safely and keeping families informed about progress and next steps.
