Israeli Forces Kill Man in Jenin Camp, West Bank Health Officials Say
Palestinian health officials report a man killed by Israeli fire near Jenin refugee camp as a major West Bank operation and clashes continue.
Palestinian health officials said Israeli forces killed a 34-year-old man on Saturday on the outskirts of the Jenin refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank. The victim, Nour al-Din Kamal Hassan Fayyad, was killed by gunfire in Jenin camp, according to the Health Ministry in Ramallah.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said its teams in Jenin received a man with no signs of breathing or pulse after he sustained a live bullet wound to the thigh.
The Israeli Army did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The broader operation, dubbed 'Iron Wall', aims to root out armed groups in Jenin and nearby camps and has displaced nearly 40,000 Palestinians, according to UNRWA. Israeli forces have sealed off Jenin camp, with residents allowed limited access to check on homes and belongings.
Violence in the West Bank has persisted since the Gaza war escalated in October 2023, with casualties on both sides reported in daily clashes and military operations.
