AIADMK rocked: Singai Ramachandran quits, top leaders absent from crucial meet!

Chennai witnessed significant political drama on Thursday as Singai G. Ramachandran, a prominent office-bearer in the AIADMK's student wing and former IT wing state secretary, announced his resignation from the party. His decision, shared on social media, came just hours after he participated in a party meeting chaired by general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai.

The resignation follows a tense encounter during the meeting where Ramachandran was reportedly asked to conclude his speech after repeatedly reiterating his points. A participant noted that while functionaries are allowed to express opinions, the final decisions rest with the general secretary. This incident appears to have contributed to Ramachandran's exit.

Adding to the party's woes, several senior AIADMK leaders were conspicuously absent from crucial meetings. Former Ministers and deputy general secretaries S.P. Velumani and Natham R. Viswanathan did not attend the Thursday meeting in Chennai. Similarly, K. Thangamani was absent from a meeting involving Namakkal district unit functionaries held on Wednesday. These absences, coupled with Ramachandran's departure, highlight potential internal rifts within the party leadership.

The meetings, convened by Palaniswami, aimed to engage with functionaries from various district units, including Coimbatore, Dindigul, and Chennai. Despite the notable absences, senior leaders like A. Tamil Magan Hussain, K.P. Munusamy, and Dindigul C. Sreenivasan were present, participating in the discussions. The developments signal a period of introspection and potential restructuring for the AIADMK.
