Census 2027’s house listing phase begins in Karnataka on April 16, as enumerators embark on a massive door-to-door data-gathering exercise. In the Greater Bengaluru Authority area, more than 26,000 personnel, including enumerators and supervisors, have been deployed to cover every household in the city.
The drive aims to gather comprehensive and accurate information from all households as part of the House Listing and Housing Census—the first phase of the Population Census 2027. Respondents will answer a set of 33 questions designed to map households and housing details for policy planning and development.
Officials emphasise that the door-to-door approach is essential for building a reliable housing census framework, with field staff visiting residences to collect essential data. The nationwide effort also involves eight States/UTs beginning their enumerations from April 16, underscoring the scale and reach of Census 2027.
As Bengaluru gears up for this major data collection, the results are expected to inform future urban planning, service delivery, and development initiatives, ensuring that census information accurately reflects the city’s housing landscape.
