TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has provided a personal update on his ongoing recovery after suffering a stroke two months ago. His commitment to regaining full health meant he was unable to attend the recent TRIC Awards ceremony, where his show, GB News Breakfast, celebrated a significant win.
The 66-year-old star was rushed to hospital in April after experiencing a stroke, having reportedly been found “slumped and out cold” at home. At the time, he assured fans he was “responding well to treatment” and was “doing OK.” However, he has since remained out of the public eye, prioritizing his rehabilitation.
While Holmes was absent, his co-presenters Ellie Costello and Alex Armstrong proudly accepted the TRIC Award on behalf of GB News Breakfast, marking its fourth consecutive victory. In a statement shared by the GB News team, Holmes extended his gratitude to the show’s viewers, saying, “I’d dearly wished I could have been there to celebrate with the team, but for now my focus has to be on making a full recovery and getting back to my best.” He also thanked everyone for their “kind get-well messages,” emphasizing that they “really do mean the world to me.”
His colleagues, Costello and Armstrong, acknowledged the strong bond with their audience, with Armstrong remarking, “We’ve got the best viewers in the world, haven’t we? The most loyal viewers, the best viewers and we can’t do it without them.” Costello added, “I think we are unique at GB News in the way that our viewers are really central to everything that we do.”
As Eamonn Holmes continues his recovery journey, fans and colleagues alike are sending their best wishes, eagerly anticipating his return to screens when he is fully ready.
