Sundar Pichai Says 'Wow' at AI Summit Over Bharat GI Coffee

At the AI Summit at Bharat Mandapam, Google CEO Sundar Pichai paused for a break and sipped Malabar coffee, exclaiming "Wow" with a smile as baristas served the brew. The moment put Bharat GI Coffee in the spotlight as the flagship product of Bharat GI, a new national umbrella IP initiative announced by Goyal. DPIIT says Bharat GI is designed to give India's centuries-old GI goods stronger international recognition and premium positioning, and it starts with Indian GI Coffee, inviting the world to experience "Bharat through aroma, flavour, and authenticity."

The India AI Impact Expo 2026 runs Feb 16-21 alongside the Summit at Bharat Mandapam and is pitched as a large-scale showcase of AI across industries. The expo spans 10 arenas across more than 70,000 square metres, with over 300 exhibition pavilions and live demonstrations. Organisers expect participation from global tech firms, startups, academic and research institutions, ministries, and international partners, with more than 600 startups presenting population-scale AI solutions. Thirteen country pavilions will highlight international collaboration, including representatives from Australia, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan, and Africa. The event is planned to draw upwards of 250,000 visitors, and features more than 500 sessions with over 3,250 speakers and panellists focused on AI's cross-sectoral impact and future pathways.

Beyond the buzz, organisers frame Bharat GI as a push to take India's legacy products global and premium, starting with coffee. The Expo will showcase how AI can support inclusive growth while threading together government, industry, and researchers in a shared journey toward "People, Planet, and Progress."
