Tattoo clue uncovers Agra murder; wife among 3 arrested
Police say a tattoo helped identify Lokendra Singh and unravel a conspiracy led by his wife and her lover in Agra, resulting in three arrests.
AGRA: A 39-year-old man, Lokendra Singh, was strangled and his body was burned to erase evidence, in a case that has shaken Agra district.
Investigators say the breakthrough came after a distinctive tattoo on the victim's hand helped confirm his identity and pointed to a conspiracy involving his wife and two others.
Police say Lokendra's wife allegedly had an affair with Mahesh Prajapati, a local fruit seller, and together with co-accused Dharmveer, hatched the plan to kill him.
Lokendra had reportedly become aware of the affair, which spurred the alleged plot to eliminate him.
On April 1, Mahesh and Dharmveer took Lokendra to an isolated spot near Saiyyan bridge, where they reportedly consumed alcohol before the crime.
Investigators recovered two phones and clothes worn during the crime, and all three suspects have been arrested under sections (103) (1) (murder) and 238 (destroying evidence) of BNS.
The police have said the investigation is ongoing as they seek more details and build the case for prosecution.
