Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi called the incident deeply disturbing, warning that prejudice against people from the Northeast persists in Indian cities. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma condemned the abuse and offered support to the victims, urging authorities to ensure accountability.
