The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the Modi government, accusing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of economic mismanagement and a failure to address rampant inflation. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that while the BJP is "busy shopping" from other parties, the common person can't even afford basic necessities.
Kharge took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight what he termed the "rapidly depleting savings due to high inflation." He asserted that households are "perishing under the weight of Modi Govt's mismanagement of the economy!" The Congress chief's remarks underline a growing concern among opposition parties about the financial strain on ordinary citizens.
Detailing his concerns, Kharge pointed to several economic indicators. He noted that retail inflation has hit a 16-month high, food inflation stands at 4.78%, and medical inflation has surged above 15%. Adding to the bleak picture, he mentioned the rupee sinking and foreign investors shunning India. A significant part of his criticism focused on youth unemployment, which he stated is "zooming," and the lack of job opportunities. The Congress's message is clear: the current economic policies are failing the average Indian.
