Ford Foundation Exits Delhi's Historic Office; New India-Led Alliances Move In!

The Ford Foundation, a prominent international philanthropic organization, has reportedly vacated its long-standing premises at Lodhi Estate in New Delhi. The departure comes after the lease for the 55, Lodhi Estate property expired, with eviction proceedings reportedly initiated in 2025 by the Land and Development Office of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

Officials have clarified that the foundation vacated the premises voluntarily, making a forceful eviction unnecessary.

In a significant move, the Indian government has already allocated the ground and first floors of the former Ford Foundation office to two crucial India-led global initiatives: the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) and the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA). This reallocation underscores India's growing leadership in international environmental and energy sectors.
