CJP Team Allegedly Assaulted in Rajasthan Village Amidst School Inspection Row
Tensions escalate in Rajasthan as Ashutosh Ranka's CJP team reports alleged assault during a school visit, sparking controversy over new school entry rules and political accusations. Get the full story!
A recent attempt by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) team, led by co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka, to inspect a government school near Rampura Kanwarpura village in Rajasthan turned violent, with allegations of assault and obstruction.
According to reports, Ranka and his team were prevented from entering the school premises to assess infrastructure and facilities. They claim to have been pushed out of the village, with the main approach road barricaded by locals. Ranka also reported injuries and damage to vehicles and phones, alleging the involvement of "BJP goons" sent to harm them.
The incident unfolds amidst an ongoing controversy regarding visits to government schools. The CJP's "School Thik Karo" campaign previously drew attention after a protest over the poor condition of a school in Thanagazi, Alwar, on August 15. That protest concluded with written assurances from the administration for repairs and improvements.
Following this, the Secondary Education Department issued new directives regulating outsider entry into government schools. These rules mandate prior written permission from the principal or headmaster for entry. Access to student areas like classrooms, hostels, and toilets is restricted unless accompanied by authorized staff. Furthermore, photography, videography, interviews, and live streaming involving students or school premises also require prior written permission, with warnings of legal action under acts like POCSO and the Juvenile Justice Act for violations.
Rajasthan's Education Minister, Madan Dilawar, subsequently clarified that these new orders do not impose a blanket ban on media entry but emphasize the need for permission, especially when interviewing or filming students. Meanwhile, the BJP has rejected the CJP's allegations of a "goon attack." BJP minister Jawahar Singh Bedham alleged that Congress workers are operating behind the CJP, stating, "They must now learn a lesson." Villagers, on the other hand, reportedly opposed the CJP's views and campaign, asserting their own capabilities to advocate for school improvements.
