RSS backs policies, doors to politics closed except BJP, Bhagwat says
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reiterates the organisation backs policies, not parties, and that only the BJP remains open for Sangh members seeking politics at a Bengaluru event.
In Bengaluru on Sunday, Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, framed the organisation as policy-driven rather than party-oriented. Speaking at the event commemorating a century of the RSS, ‘100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons,’ he insisted that the Sangh does not back any particular political party or individual, but rather advocates for certain policies. He added that the doors to politics are effectively closed for RSS members, with the BJP being the sole exception that remains open for those who want to enter the political arena. "We don’t have a special affinity towards one party. There is no Sangh party. No party is ours and all parties are ours because they are Indian parties," Bhagwat stated, emphasising the Sangh’s policy-first approach. "The doors of all parties, except the BJP, are closed for RSS members. The only open door... we go to the BJP," he added, underscoring a pragmatic alignment with the party that shares the Sangh’s broader ideological goals.
