The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially imposed a ban on Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh. This decision comes after the actor's sudden exit from Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated film, Don 3. The industry body has issued a non-cooperation directive, alleging that Ranveer failed to respond to multiple invitations to discuss the matter in person on three separate occasions.
During a recent press conference, FWICE representatives explained that Farhan Akhtar and his production partner, Ritesh Sidhwani, filed a formal complaint back in April. They detailed how Ranveer left the project just three weeks before the production unit was scheduled to begin filming. This late departure reportedly caused significant financial strain, with the production house claiming nearly Rs 45 crore in pre-production damages. These costs covered everything from hotel bookings and location scouts to international travel for over 200 crew members.
Following the announcement of the ban, Ranveer Singh was seen for the first time at the Mumbai airport on Monday night. Usually known for his high energy and friendly interactions with the paparazzi, the actor took a different approach this time. Wearing traditional attire and a mask, he chose to ignore the cameras and headed straight to his car without any interaction or posing. This silence marks a notable shift for the star who is typically the life of any media gathering.
While his team has since issued a statement addressing the allegations, the tension between the actor and the industry body remains high. This isn't the first time FWICE has taken such drastic measures; notable stars like Diljit Dosanjh and Mika Singh have faced similar bans in the past. For now, the future of Ranveer’s participation in upcoming industry projects remains under a cloud of uncertainty as the industry watches how this legal and professional dispute unfolds.
