Prices for LPG, CNG and PNG jump across major Indian metros as West Asia tensions push global oil prices higher; Delhi's 19kg cylinder now ₹2,078.50 and 14.2kg ₹913.
Oil prices are ticking upward as tensions in West Asia impact energy supplies, with global prices up sharply. India imports a large share of its crude and LPG from West Asian nations, making the domestic fuel market sensitive to international movements. Yet the government has assured that LPG supplies remain stable and that no shortages are reported at distribution points.
Across major cities, 14.2 kg LPG cylinder prices show city-specific variations: Delhi at ₹913, Kolkata at ₹939, Mumbai at ₹912.50, Chennai at ₹928.50, Bengaluru at ₹915.50 and Hyderabad at ₹965. The price changes come after recent revisions earlier this week for commercial cylinders.
For the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders, the rates are higher in all centers: Delhi ₹2,078.50, Kolkata ₹2,208.50, Mumbai ₹2,031, Chennai ₹2,246.50, Bengaluru ₹2,161, and Hyderabad ₹2,320.50. These figures reflect a price hike of roughly ₹195.50 in Delhi, following a ₹114.50 jump in early March.
Natural gas and cooking gas prices are also shifting. CNG prices per kilogram show Delhi at ₹77.09, Kolkata ₹93.50, Mumbai ₹80.50, Chennai ₹91.50, Bengaluru ₹88.95 and Hyderabad ₹97. PNG prices per standard cubic metre show Delhi at ₹47.89, Kolkata ₹50, Mumbai ₹50, Chennai ₹50, Bengaluru ₹52 and Hyderabad ₹51.
Officials note that global oil prices have risen by nearly 50 percent due to the West Asia conflict, affecting energy supply chains. Domestic cooking gas price last saw a rise of ₹60 per 14.2-kg cylinder on March 7, and since then the price has remained unchanged at ₹913 in Delhi. Consumers are watching the trends closely as the situation in the region stabilizes and world markets react.
