Hindustan Zinc Ltd on Friday announced its Q4FY26 results alongside a hefty interim dividend. The board approved the first interim dividend of Rs 11 per equity share (face value Rs 2) for the financial year 2026-27, amounting to Rs 4,648 crore. The record date for payment is Thursday, April 30, 2026, and the dividend shall be paid within the timelines prescribed under the law.
Vedanta Ltd, which holds a commanding stake and a large shareholding in Hindustan Zinc, is slated to pocket Rs 2,821.79 crore from this dividend move, making it the biggest beneficiary of the payout.
Earlier, Hindustan Zinc paid a prior interim dividend of Rs 10 per share with a record date of June 17, 2025. Before that, the miner distributed Rs 19 per share on August 28, 2024; Rs 10 per share on May 15, 2024; and Rs 6 per share on December 14, 2023.
On the earnings front, Hindustan Zinc reported a 68% year-on-year jump in net profit for the quarter, underscoring a strong operational performance that underpins the dividend windfall for shareholders. These payouts reflect Vedanta Group’s strategy of rewarding shareholders while navigating the dynamics of the mining sector. Retail investors will be watching closely to see how the stock responds to this sizeable distribution.
