A tragic house fire in West London's Hounslow has led to a man being charged with murder, attempted murder, and arson. Pawel Kulpa, 34, was charged on Monday, August 24, 2026, with one count of murder, eight counts of attempted murder, and one count of arson with intent to endanger life following the devastating incident. The fire erupted at a residential address on Berkeley Avenue, Hounslow, around 01:15 BST on Wednesday, August 19.
Another woman, aged 40, remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Seven other individuals, six men and one woman, were also treated for minor injuries and have since been discharged from hospital.
Sadly, 50-year-old Anna Kowalska died in hospital following the blaze.
The Met Police confirmed these details as the investigation unfolds. Lisa Ramsarran, chief crown prosecutor for London North, stated that sufficient evidence has been established to pursue criminal proceedings, emphasizing close collaboration with the Metropolitan Police throughout the investigation.
Pawel Kulpa is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court this coming Tuesday to face these grave charges.
