Sturgill Simpson assures fans ticket prices won’t spike on his upcoming tour, citing inflation but keeping overall costs stable and expanding lower-priced options.
Sturgill Simpson, performing under the Johnny Blue Skies alias with his band The Dark Clouds, announced a US tour that aimed to keep ticket prices steady despite inflation and rising touring costs. After pre-sales sparked chatter about higher prices, Simpson took to Instagram to explain the math behind the numbers: inflation, fuel, and other touring costs have risen, but the average ticket price for this run will be largely unchanged. He noted that the average price will rise by only about $10 compared to his 2025 outing, a shift he attributes to booking larger venues that can accommodate more affordable options.
Simpson emphasized that high-end and low-end ticket prices are the same, and that the overall average remains consistent. He pointed out that there will be more lower-priced tickets available this time because the shows are in bigger venues, arguing that choosing smaller venues would have driven prices up considerably. The artist also addressed vocal critics directly, joking, “Not sure if the vocal minority complainers are new discovery phase fans or scalper bots sewing discord, but these are the facts folks and if I’m lying you can sell my bones to Davey Jones.”
