A 19-year-old Veer Soren, grandson of former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren, dies in Manali after a sudden illness; authorities suspect high-altitude sickness, post-mortem pending.
Veer Soren, 19, the grandson of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, died during a visit to Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Police said he and his friends were staying at a homestay in the Simsa area and had been sightseeing at Solang, Sethan, and Hamta Pass as part of their itinerary. According to the information received, Veer suddenly complained of a severe headache after returning from the day’s trip. He was given medication but soon lost consciousness and fell from the bed. While being rushed to Civil Hospital Manali, froth appeared from his mouth. Doctors there attempted CPR but he was declared dead on arrival. Prima facie, there were no external injuries on the body, and police noted that the exact cause of death would be ascertained through further checks. A friend accompanying him described a trip with the group to the popular hill station, and said they had planned more activities, but the night ended in tragedy. The family reportedly refused a post-mortem, and the body has been handed over to them. Police said that high altitude sickness (hypoxemia) is a suspected cause, pending post-mortem results and further investigation.
