ISRO's 43.5-meter Bahubali rocket carries CMS-03 to GEO, marking a major milestone in India's space efforts with a precise 20-minute separation and a successful orbit insertion.
The evening sky over Sriharikota turned into a glowing canvas on Sunday as ISRO’s mighty ‘Bahubali’ rocket, the LVM3-M5, roared into space carrying India’s heaviest communication satellite yet, CMS-03. The launch took place at 5:26 pm, and within moments, the bright orange trail of the rocket lit up the horizon, drawing cheers from everyone watching.
Standing an impressive 43.5 metres tall, the rocket took off after a 24-hour countdown. Just 20 minutes into its flight, CMS-03 separated from the rocket at an altitude of about 180 km exactly as planned. ISRO later confirmed that the satellite was successfully placed in its intended orbit.
The Secretary of ISRO congratulated India through a Twitter post. The post says,
Congratulations India, @isro has successfully launched the heaviest GEO communication satellite from Indian soil. The Indian space sector is soaring high to provide valuable services to the user community in and around the Indian region.

The CMS-03 is not just another satellite; it’s a major leap for India’s communication system. It will provide multi-band communication services across the country and over vast ocean regions, improving TV broadcasting, internet access, and telecommunication services.
What makes this achievement extra special is what it represents: self-reliance. Until recently, India had to rely on foreign spaceports like French Guiana to launch heavy satellites such as GSAT-11, which weighed over 5,800 kg. But this time, India did it on its own soil.
With the successful launch of CMS-03, ISRO has once again proven that India’s space dreams are soaring higher than ever. The mission is a proud reminder that with each launch, India is not just sending satellites into space, it’s sending a message to the world that we’re capable, confident, and ready for bigger challenges.
