London braced for weekend protests near US and Iranian embassies

London is bracing for a weekend of demonstrations with rallies planned near the US and Iranian embassies. A Stage for Freedom march from Whitehall will head toward Kensington Road near the Iranian embassy in Knightsbridge. Concurrently, groups including the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the Stop the War Coalition, and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign will converge on the United States embassy, starting from Millbank, calling for an end to attacks on Iran. Police have set designated routes and require post-march rallies to finish by 5pm, with amplified noise equipment barred to limit disturbance.
Beyond the capital, a separate demonstration is planned at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire from 1pm, organized by CND to oppose any potential use of the base by US bombers. This comes after a decision by Sir Keir Starmer to allow UK bases, including Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford, to be used for US defensive strikes targeting threats from Tehran. Gloucestershire Constabulary said it would deploy officers to maintain safety, minimize disruption, and prevent crime.
The weekend protests reflect ongoing concern over the Iran war and Western military involvement, with authorities stressing proportionate and lawful responses to keep communities safe.
