Lucknow Gaming Zone Fire: 15 Dead, Building Had Revoked Demolition Order!
A devastating fire at a Lucknow gaming zone has claimed 15 lives, mostly youngsters. Shockingly, the building had a demolition order in 2016, revoked just two months later. Investigations into safety lapses are underway.
Tragedy struck Lucknow's Aliganj area on Monday afternoon as a massive fire engulfed a commercial complex housing both a coaching centre and a gaming zone. The blaze reportedly erupted inside the complex and spread rapidly, causing panic among those present and trapping many inside. Horrifying visuals from the scene showed people desperately jumping from the first floor to escape the thick smoke and flames.
At least 15 people, primarily youngsters and students, have been declared dead by officials, with seven others sustaining injuries. Emergency services, including fire brigade teams, police personnel, and district administration officials, immediately rushed to the spot, launching a large-scale rescue and evacuation operation. Rescue and cooling operations continued to ensure no one else remained trapped within the building.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sorrow over the deaths. He quickly directed senior officials to oversee rescue and relief operations, ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured, and provide all possible assistance to affected families. The Chief Minister also instructed the police and district administration to submit a detailed report on the incident, focusing on the cause of the fire and any potential safety lapses. In a swift response, CM Adityanath cut short his visit to Aligarh and returned to Lucknow to visit the incident site.
Adding a crucial and deeply concerning layer to this tragedy, it has been revealed that the building in question had a demolition order issued against it in 2016. Shockingly, this order was revoked just two months later. This revelation raises serious questions about building safety regulations and their enforcement, especially concerning establishments that attract large numbers of young people. Authorities have confirmed four arrests in connection with the incident as the investigation into the cause and circumstances continues.
