Tragedy Strikes: Rain Claims Lives, Causes Damage in Krishna, NTR Districts
Heavy rains wreak havoc in Andhra Pradesh! Three dead, four injured in Krishna and NTR districts due to electrocution, accidents, and gales. Authorities issue warnings.
Heavy rainfall has led to tragic incidents across Krishna and NTR districts, resulting in three fatalities and four injuries, alongside significant damage to property and agriculture. Authorities are urging residents to exercise extreme caution as the weather continues to impact the region.
In a heartbreaking incident in Peddakallepalli village, Mopidevi mandal, 53-year-old Darapureddy Samrajyam was electrocuted after coming into contact with a snapped live wire on the road. Separately, two young men lost their lives on the Penumudi bridge at Avanigadda when their bike was hit by a four-wheeler.
Poor visibility and slippery roads, consequences of the heavy downpour, are suspected to have contributed to the fatal accident.
Police have registered a case and are investigating these incidents.
The adverse weather conditions also saw 30 houses damaged by strong gales in Chintalapadu village of Tiruvuru mandal, where four individuals sustained injuries. In a dramatic rescue, Srinivas Reddy and his wife were saved after their car was washed away in the swelling Pedavaagu at Nunna village, Krishna district. Fortunately, they managed to escape unharmed.
The agricultural sector has also borne the brunt of the incessant rains, with extensive crop damage reported in Nandigama, Jaggaiahpet, Tiruvuru, and other areas across both NTR and Krishna districts. District officials, including NTR District Collector G.
Lakshmisha and local MLAs, have visited the affected villages to assess the situation and offer support.
In response to the escalating situation, police authorities have set up pickets near overflowing rivulets, including Ultavagu, Kakalavagu, and Kattaleru, to prevent further mishaps. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed five teams to various affected districts in Andhra Pradesh, including Srikakulam, Parvathipuram-Manyam, Dr.
B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Alluri Sitharamaraju, and Visakhapatnam, to assist with rescue and relief operations. Officials are appealing to the public to avoid crossing swollen streams and to vacate any dilapidated buildings to ensure their safety.
