The driver, a 29-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and drink driving.
Victims included a woman in her 30s who was treated for minor injuries, and a man in his 50s who sustained life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital. A second woman in her 30s also received treatment for minor injuries.
The incident took place on Argyll Street, a side street in Soho not far from the London Palladium, and officials say it is not being treated as terrorism-related. Video footage filmed by witnesses shows a confrontation on the street, with a woman entering a car that then moved forward and struck another person. A man nearby on a bike also appears to have been hit.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward, even if the information seems minor, as investigations continue. With venues in the area still open in the early hours, the incident has sent a shock through the community and prompted calls for greater street safety in the bustling West End.
