Ten Soldiers Die in Doda Road Tragedy; TN Assembly Condoles

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution condoling the deaths of Indian Army soldiers who were killed in a road accident in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday. An Army vehicle skidded off a treacherous stretch and plunged into a deep gorge, in bad weather and treacherous terrain, killing 10 jawans and injuring 11.
The House expressed its condolences to the bereaved families, the Indian Army, and the people of the country, and observed a moment of silence as a mark of honour for the deceased soldiers. Speaker M. Appavu also read out an obituary reference on the passing of former legislator K. Bhavani Karunakaran.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army’s White Knight Corps described the incident as unfortunate and confirmed the vehicle slipped off the road while navigating treacherous terrain in bad weather. A solemn wreath-laying ceremony in Doda honoured the ten jawans who lost their lives in the accident.
Officials noted that the collapse occurred while the vehicle was navigating difficult terrain amid poor weather, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by security personnel in the region.
