Apple iPad Air with M4 chip lands in India at Rs 64,900

Ahead of its March 4 launch event, Apple announced a fresh iPad Air powered by the M4 chip, bringing upgraded performance, new AI capabilities, and broader connectivity. The tablet will be available in 11-inch and 13-inch display options, with India pricing starting at Rs 64,900.

The M4 chip features an 8-core CPU, a 9-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, delivering up to 30 percent faster performance than the M3 iPad Air and up to 2.3x faster than the M1 iPad Air. Apple says users will notice the speed spikes in demanding creator tasks, from video editing in Final Cut Pro to photo work in Pixelmator Pro, making everyday workflows feel much quicker.

In addition to the CPU gains, the new iPad Air bumps unified memory to up to 12GB and increases memory bandwidth to 120GB/s, enabling AI models to run more smoothly. The device also features an N1 chip for wireless connectivity, supporting Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread for smarter home and accessory integration. A 12MP Centre Stage camera sits at the top center of the display, while iPadOS 26 brings a new windowing system, a redesigned menu bar, and other productivity enhancements.

Software updates extend to the Files app with a List view and new folder customization, and the Preview app now lets users sketch, view, edit, and mark up PDFs and images with Apple Pencil or touch. The iPad Air (M4) also supports Magic Keyboard, reinforcing Apple’s emphasis on creating a more versatile productivity tablet.

This launch aligns with Apple’s broader hardware push, highlighting faster performance and enhanced AI capabilities across its portfolio as the company rolls out multiple devices in the coming days.
