The National Investigation Agency arrested Ahidul Islam Molla, a prime accused from Bijoyganj Bazar in South 24 Parganas, in connection with the West Bengal bomb explosion at Dakshin Bamunia village earlier this year. The arrest, made on Sunday, followed a detailed examination of his alleged role in the March blast that killed one person and left three seriously injured. A second accused had already been arrested by state police.
Investigators say the bombs were being assembled as part of a larger conspiracy when the explosion occurred. The development comes as security agencies brace for the upcoming polling phase in West Bengal, with central forces deployed across the state to thwart any violence.
More than 250,000 central forces personnel, roughly 2,550 companies, have been deployed for the West Bengal polls. The case highlights the ongoing security challenges in the state ahead of the second phase. Authorities say the investigation will continue to uncover the network behind the attack.
