Terrorists Take Food from House; Udhampur Security Forces Launch Search
Security forces in Udhampur launch a multi-front search after two terrorists reportedly took food from a villager's home and fled into nearby forests.
Security forces launched a search operation in Udhampur district after two unidentified terrorists reportedly visited Mangtu Ram’s house at Chore Motu village around 6:30 p.m. and took food before slipping into the adjacent forest area. The operation, a joint effort by police and paramilitary forces, began in earnest from first light on Sunday and targets the forest belt near the village.
The combing effort is being conducted from multiple sides in Majalta and surrounding forest villages, about 5 km west of the site of an earlier encounter in which a policeman was killed. Officials said the terrorists managed to escape into dense foliage, taking advantage of darkness and thick cover. The forest belt was cordoned off as security teams pressed the search, aiming to neutralize the militants and prevent any repeat of the incident.
Security forces had received intelligence on the movement of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists in the area preceding the incident, and authorities emphasized that the operation would continue until the militants are tracked down. The latest mobilization comes after the December 15 encounter at Soan village in Majalta, underscoring a stretch of ongoing counterterrorism activity in the region.
