Two more suspects are in custody as part of a London-wide arson conspiracy investigation targeting a Jewish community site.
Two more arrests have been made in connection with an alleged conspiracy to commit arson at a site connected to the Jewish community as Counter Terrorism Police widen their investigation. The latest detentions bring the total to nine over three days. A 19-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were arrested in Watford on Tuesday and remain in custody. Seven others who were arrested for conspiracy to commit arson remain under investigation and have been released on bail with strict conditions. These include three men arrested in Harpenden on April 19 (ages 24, 26 and 26), a 25-year-old man arrested in Stevenage, and a 26-year-old man plus two women aged 50 and 59 detained in a car near Birmingham.
Senior National Co-ordinator of Counter Terrorism Policing noted that investigations are moving quickly and that authorities are identifying and arresting individuals believed to be involved in the recent arson attacks in north west London. The message to anyone considering involvement in such activity emphasized that the stakes are high and the risk is not worth taking, according to the spokesperson.
Images from the investigation have shown the burnt-out remains of Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green, illustrating the potential impact of the alleged plot. The authorities also indicated that the first conviction relating to this spate of arson attacks has been secured, with seven others charged previously as the case develops.
Officials stressed that the investigation remains active and ongoing, with more updates anticipated as officers review further evidence and interview additional witnesses.
