Sensex climbs on global cues as volatility swirls in Indian markets
Indian indices rebound on optimistic global signals, with Sensex rallying and Nifty reclaiming 25,850 as traders weigh rate-cut prospects and US-India trade talks.
The session began on a weaker note, with both the Sensex and Nifty trading lower in a highly volatile setup as mixed global cues weighed on sentiment. In the morning, the 30-share Sensex fell 138.36 points, or 0.16%, to 84,328.15, while the broader Nifty slipped 38.50 points, or 0.15%, to 25,837.30. As traders juggled global developments, the indices swung between intraday highs and lows, underscoring a cautious mood. Among the Sensex constituents, laggards included Tata Motors' commercial vehicles unit, Eternal, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, ITC, Tata Consultancy Services, and Bharat Electronics Ltd. On the flip side, gainers featured Asian Paints, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bharti Airtel, Trent, Larsen & Toubro, and State Bank of India. Analysts cautioned that the market needs more triggers to push decisively higher, noting that Bihar poll outcomes were largely discounted and that any surprise could alter the trajectory of the rally.
