Eleven people lose their lives after two trucks, a car and an SUV collide on a hill road in Dramandganj, with seven SUV occupants trapped as flames engulfed the vehicle.
In Mirzapur, a tragic multi-vehicle crash late on Wednesday evening left 11 people dead after a sequence of collisions on the Dramandganj hill road. Two trucks, a car and an SUV were involved, and the SUV burst into flames, trapping seven occupants. The drivers of the car and one of the trucks also died in the crash, while two victims remained unidentified at the time of the response.
Officials said a truck descending the Drumandganj hill from MP’s Rewa district suddenly failed to brake, sending it out of control. It first collided with a car climbing the hill, which was then struck by another truck. A speeding SUV coming up the hill rammed into the truck and its occupants could not escape as the SUV caught fire.
Rescue teams, including police, fire services and local authorities, worked amid a chaotic scene as onlookers rushed to assist.Despite rapid efforts, the seven SUV occupants were unable to jump to safety before the blaze engulfed the vehicle. The highway linking MP and Mirzapur was briefly blocked as responders cleared debris and tended to the wounded.
Investigations into the sequence of events have begun, with autopsies expected and relief measures being considered for the families of the victims. The tragedy underscores ongoing concerns about road safety on this hilly stretch and the need for enhanced emergency response readiness.
