J&K BJP Slams Mirwaiz: Article 370 Gone for Good, No Return!

The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP has strongly criticized Kashmir's chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, following his recent appeal to political parties to unite for the restoration of Article 370. BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur vehemently stated that such calls are attempts to provoke the public and destabilize the hard-won peace in the valley, which has emerged after years of conflict.

Thakur highlighted that the Indian Parliament made a "historic" constitutional decision on August 5, 2019, to abrogate Article 370, a move subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court.

"Mirwaiz Umar Farooq should understand that Article 370 is not coming back.

Parliament has buried Article 370 forever, and no political party, leader or pressure group can reverse that constitutional reality," Thakur asserted, leaving no room for doubt on the BJP's firm stand.

He cautioned that statements of this nature risk dragging Kashmir back into its turbulent past, undermining the significant sacrifices made by security forces and civilians for peace and democracy. Thakur stressed that the nation has paid a heavy price for the return of normalcy, and these efforts should not be challenged by politically motivated statements.

The BJP spokesperson emphasized that Kashmir has endured enough bloodshed, shutdowns, and instability. He urged that the people, particularly the youth, should not be pushed into another cycle of unrest.

"Those who attempt to revive old fault lines must understand that Kashmir has moved ahead.

Our youth want education, employment, entrepreneurship, investment, tourism and opportunities. They do not want to return to an era when shutdown calendars dictated their lives and violence dictated the future," Thakur concluded, reinforcing the vision of a progressive and peaceful future for the region.
