Kerala Erupts: BJP Protests Intensify After Office Attack!

Political temperatures are soaring across Kerala as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched widespread protests in response to escalating violence, including the vandalism of its State committee office, Mararji Bhavan, and an alleged attack on party national executive committee member P.K. Krishnadas.
The protests, which were called for statewide agitation by the BJP State unit, saw activists clashing with police and demonstrating against the State government on Thursday. In Thiruvananthapuram, a significant march to the Secretariat turned chaotic as BJP activists attempted to breach police barricades, leading to scuffles and verbal altercations with law enforcement officials.
The march, commencing from Pulimootil, highlighted the party's anger and determination.
Further intensifying their stance, BJP activists waved black flags at Higher Education Minister Roji M. John in Chengannur. These actions underscore the growing political unrest that has gripped the state following a series of contentious incidents.
Meanwhile, reports also emerged of Minister O.J.
Janeesh's vehicle being attacked by DYFI members in Kannur, adding another layer to the complex web of political confrontations.
The unrest follows a Wednesday night attack where unidentified individuals hurled bottles and stones at the BJP headquarters. Earlier that evening, Mr. Krishnadas's vehicle was also reportedly targeted.
The BJP swiftly condemned these incidents, issuing a statement that described the attack on its State office "under the cover of darkness" as a direct challenge to the fundamental principles of democracy. The party emphasized that resorting to violence when political opposition fails is antithetical to democratic practices.
These recent developments come amidst heightened political tensions, which were further fueled by a black-flag protest staged by Youth Congress activists against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent visit to Kollam. P.K. Krishnadas remarked that the situation in Kerala had deteriorated to a point where "even the security of the Union Home Minister had been compromised." He affirmed that the BJP, while not believing in violence, would continue to engage in democratic protests across the state against the attacks.
BJP State general secretary S.
Suresh accused the Congress of attempting to undermine democracy through illicit means and warned of severe repercussions.
Additionally, BJP national secretary K.
Surendran questioned why the State Home Department had not registered a case regarding the black-flag protest against Amit Shah, especially after the Sports Minister allegedly admitted to orchestrating it. As of now, the attackers responsible for the Mararji Bhavan incident remain unidentified, with police actively examining CCTV footage in an effort to bring them to justice.
