Infosys Chairman: AI to Amplify, Not Replace, IT Services with $400B Opportunity!
Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani forecasts a massive $300-400 billion AI services market by 2030, stating AI will amplify IT firms. Learn how Infosys is leading the charge in this tech revolution!
Infosys, a global leader in IT services, is projecting an enormous $300-$400 billion opportunity in AI-led services by the year 2030. This optimistic outlook comes from chairman Nandan Nilekani, who firmly believes that Artificial Intelligence will not replace IT services companies but instead amplify their capabilities. He shared this vision during the company's 45th annual general meeting.
Nilekani addressed concerns about AI's potential to automate coding and diminish the relevance of IT firms. He countered by asserting that AI is, in fact, accelerating the demand for legacy modernization and helping enterprises tackle long-standing technical debt. The real work, according to him, lies in bridging the "AI deployment gap" within large enterprise clients. He emphasized that the significant opportunity involves integrating AI models with critical enterprise platforms and traditional transaction systems that are fundamental to large businesses.
"Now, more than three years after GenAI emerged, Infosys is more relevant than ever before and well positioned for the decade ahead," Nilekani stated, highlighting the company's strong position in the evolving tech landscape. Infosys has already rolled out an AI-first value framework designed to assist enterprises in deploying AI at scale, aiming to capture a substantial share of the burgeoning AI services market.
The company's commitment to AI is evident in its client engagements, with Infosys actively collaborating with 90% of its top 200 clients on various AI initiatives. CEO Salil Parekh further underscored AI's growing importance, revealing that AI-related services already constitute 5.5% of Infosys's revenue, translating to an impressive annualized run rate of approximately $1 billion. "We continue to see good growth in this AI services revenue," Parekh added.
Parekh outlined six key areas where clients are deploying AI: AI engineering and strategy, data, business processes, technology modernization, physical AI, and trust and security. These combined areas represent a vast addressable market, showcasing the wide-ranging impact and potential of AI across various sectors.
